Gelendzhik airport

The Gelendzhik airport takes a special place among investment projects. Its construction gave a powerful impulse to development of the resort and increased the general investment appeal of the city.

Prospects of the project were caused by high interest of the state in it. The decision on its construction is made by Vladimir Putin in 2004 within visit to Gelendzhik.

"Air gate" the cities open big prospects for the Black Sea tourism and multiply the general investment appeal of Gelendzhik in the world tourist market. The new runway is constructed by the size 3100m x 60m. The reconstruction purpose — reception of the main TU-154, YaK-42, TU-204, TU-334 planes and their foreign analogs for transportation of air passengers by air transport. A total cost of the project — more than 8 billion rubles. Design capacity of air terminal complex — 900 thousand passengers a year. After reconstruction the Gelendzhik airport will have the status of the passenger international airport IV of a class. Reconstruction of the airport and the factors connected with it will increase according to forecasts tax revenues in the local budget by 135 million rubles a year.

On December 25, 2008 the first technical plane flight which made landing and take-off from a new strip of the airport is carried out.
